Today, we planned to take the train from Venice Mestre, where our hotel was located, to the city center. However, it was difficult to find a ticket counter where we could buy the tickets. After waiting in the wrong line twice, we were lucky on the third attempt. So, we headed to the train and off we went :-) After a short ride, we arrived and started exploring the narrow alleyways and crossing various small bridges - going up and down stairs. Always with a beautiful view of the small canals, gondoliers, and old houses. We took a break by the canal at the Rialto Market and watched the canoeists, dragon boats, etc. as there was a rowing festival today. Then we continued on to the Rialto Bridge, of course stopping for some ice cream along the way :-) Afterwards, we walked to St. Mark's Square with St. Mark's Campanile, St. Mark's Basilica, and Doge's Palace. By this time, there were already many tourists here, while it was still quite relaxing in the alleys at the beginning. After another break and feeling exhausted from the heat, we took the water bus back to the train station, had some food at a restaurant by the canal, and then returned by train.
