Since Verona was on the way to Lignano, we combined it with a trip there. After a little over an hour's drive, we arrived in Verona around noon. First, we walked towards the Arena...not without a stop at McDonald's, where we actually just wanted to change Juliane's diaper, but Jette insisted on a Happy Meal. The McDonald's was terrible...full of tourists with a crazy ordering system. First, you have to select the menu on a touch screen, then bring the ticket to the payment counter, and finally wait until your number is called. And for what? Jette ate three French fries and then was full :-( After about an hour of wasted time, we still went to the Arena. Around the Arena, the oldest in Italy and the third largest, there were stage components, as the Arena is often used for performances. Among others, a huge Roman head... Then we went to the famous balcony of Romeo and Juliet. Lots of tourists...you could hardly move. In the passage and everywhere, there were inscriptions and memorials from random people. Afterwards, we visited some other sights before heading back to the car. On the way back to the car, both kids fell asleep - Juli in the carrier and Jette in the stroller :-D Then we had a drive of over 2 hours ahead of us, which also dragged on and we almost got stuck at a toll station because the machine didn't want our money :-o In Lignano, we have a vacation apartment: 2 bedrooms, kitchen/living room, hallway, bathroom, and 2 balconies. Everything quite spacious, albeit a bit older. The kids loved it and played around the whole evening, even though it was already late. Juliane is now crawling longer distances and becoming more confident and faster...always followed by Jette. She also always wants to eat what Jette is eating, so she also got a fruit tiger for dessert ;-)
