As our flight to Vancouver departs at 7:15 AM, the children are allowed to get up early today, but of course they are not awake.
The 1.45-hour flight is on time and as a domestic flight, it is completely uncomplicated. Unfortunately, our pre-booked transportation to Abbotsford, where the rental car is waiting for us (in Vancouver there were no minivans available in January), is delayed. Fortunately, there is no activity at the car rental counter and in a short time we are in front of a white Toyota Scenic.
Now we cross our fingers to reach the pre-booked ferry in Vancouver Tsawwassen in time.
Success - we arrive at the ferry terminal 10 minutes before closing.
The crossing to Nanaimo takes 2 hours, but unfortunately our hope of seeing whales is not fulfilled.
We do our shopping for the vacation rental at the supermarket and head to Ucluelet on the Pacific coast. The town is located in Pacific Rim National Park and even the drive there is an experience.
We are greeted with a large vacation rental in Canadian wood construction with stylish furnishings and even a bathtub on the balcony overlooking the sea. And so, a long travel day comes to an end.
