Day 2: We meet Franzi in the morning at the Vienna Central Cemetery. On the vast grounds with over 300,000 graves, you can take a wonderful walk, admire interesting and bizarre tombs, and observe wildlife (hares, deer, squirrels), which obviously feel at home here.
Frozen through (wind gusts up to 85 km/h), we return to the car after a few hours to stock up on warming coffee and oriental delicacies at the Brunnenmarkt. Well-satisfied, we go to the Volksoper. Franzi invited us to Verdi's "La Traviata". What an emotional roller coaster ride: After arriving the night before in the flourishing life of a (not quite sooo) young student, we went to the most morbid corner of Vienna, the central cemetery. Afterwards, we are allowed to participate in the pleasurable life of the courtesan Violetta (main character of the opera), only to mourn her death a few hours later!
