Ao Nang - Krabi

Byatangajwe: 16.02.2018

We flew about 1h 20min by plane from Bangkok to Krabi. Domestic flights in Thailand are very cheap (taking a bus is of course much cheaper). We have a great hotel (Maneetel Krabi) right on Ao Nang Beach. After traveling so much in Australia, we want to rest and only go on day trips.

So far, we have taken it easy, as we don't have a real plan yet for what we want to do. We have been swimming in the sea and the pool, both have warm water, so not really refreshing. The beach is nice (spoiled by Australia), but we hope to find even nicer ones. The weather has been very good so far, blue sky and 35 degrees, it's comfortable. Otherwise, we have been strolling through the streets and in the food court. There are countless clothes and souvenirs to buy. Also, many tours are offered at very high prices. In general, the prices are much higher than we know from Indonesia. Most tourists come from China, South Korea, Japan, Russia, and of course Germany. For evening entertainment, there are restaurants with live music, street bars, and RCA Entertainment. You can find the best music and cheapest drinks at RCA. RCA is a side street with about 12 bars, where you can drink, have nice conversations, and play billiards and other games for free. Since there are many solo male travelers in Thailand, and they also get bored in the evening, there are of course also girls/ladies/ladyboys who keep them company. Otherwise, there are many couples and young families.

For meals, we visit the food court around the corner several times a day. There are about 10 stands to choose from, 8 of which exclusively cook Thai food. We brought gluten-free soy sauce from Australia. Communication with the locals is going pretty well, especially important is NOOO soy sauce, fish sauce, or oyster sauce in the food. We have found that it doesn't work so well with the gluten-free food in the restaurants. In addition, the food in the food court is much cheaper (4-6€) for a starter and main course for 2 people.

We'll see what the next few days will bring. :)
