Highlight of the day: For the second time, Egon joined me for a stage and despite the rain all day, we had a great time together.
Both of us had to travel to our meeting point in Morges. However, Egon came from Köniz and I only took a 30-minute bus ride from Bussigny. Coincidentally, we walked towards each other at the train station and immediately started our hike.
Egon had bought new hiking shoes that he wanted to break in today. For safety, he carried his old worn-out hiking shoes in his backpack. Since the stage was over 27 km long, he wanted to make sure. Before we boarded the train in Bavois, our destination for the tour, he threw them in the trash.
When we started marching, we didn't have a definite final destination. We just needed a train station where I will continue the tour to Yverdon tomorrow. This happened because I couldn't find a decent accommodation, so two days ago I already booked an Airbnb for 2 nights in Yverdon.
The "trails" were very varied. On one hand, there were roads or well-maintained hiking paths, on the other hand, the paths were very muddy due to the rain and we had to avoid large puddles.
On this stage, there was actually only one place we had to pass through. Therefore, the selection of restaurants was small, but by chance, we found a restaurant in Vufflens that offered a menu just in time for lunch. However, I was still not very hungry and only had the creamy cauliflower soup. When hunger struck later, Egon offered me a very good cervelat sausage from his backpack. Thanks, Egon!
When we reached our agreed destination later, we were both still fit enough to add a few more kilometers to the next train station.
There were 2 reasons why it was worth it: Firstly, I will have fewer kilometers to hike tomorrow and Egon was able to hike through an interesting gorge. At this location, a canal was once planned to connect the two lakes, Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Geneva, for navigation.
