Singapore was in my imagination an oasis in a desert of otherwise poor Southeast Asian countries. If we had arrived in Singapore from Bangkok, this idea would probably have been fully confirmed. However, after a country like Malaysia and especially a city like Kuala Lumpur, the contrast was only half as big, which is why I was a little disappointed at first. The complicating factor was that the first impression - exactly at noon in the business district - did not seem particularly sympathetic to me. Too much capitalism and strict rules. But after getting to know the other side of the city - the life side of the work/life ratio - in the following days, this first impression was diluted.
Above all, the architecture in Singapore impressed me afterwards and as a photo and video motif it is also a top location that I can now check off my photo spot wish list.
Nevertheless, Singapore is not a place where you have to come back over and over again (if you're reading this Mareike :P).
In that regard, I prefer Thailand - the Land of Smiles - with its warmth
