On this day, we started around 10 am full of anticipation and excitement for our extraordinary tour. We chose this time of year specifically to avoid too many snow fields, but hopefully not yet encounter the worst mosquito plague. While it didn't work out 100%, we managed to find a manageable balance. The almost constant strong wind probably kept many pests away from us.
After about 11 hours of hiking, we finally set up our first camp. We didn't make as much progress as we had hoped, but the sometimes very extreme boulder fields took a lot of physical and mental strength. The small green area with a stream nearby was a good opportunity to recharge our energy and water supply. After dinner, we just fell into the tent.
