After the plane took off on time at 21:55 yesterday in FFM, I landed in Cape Town today at around 11am local time (+1).
To get to the hostel, I took the bus to get a feel for the city right away. After a long ride past huts made of plywood and corrugated iron, I reached the city center of Cape Town after about 1 hour. The big difference is immediately noticeable there: At first glance, Cape Town's city center looks like any other Western city with its multi-lane roads, glass skyscrapers, and many shopping opportunities. Poverty and wealth collide here immediately.
On the bus, I met Linda from JoBurg, who gave me many tips for my stay in South Africa and invited me to her family as soon as I'm in JoBurg. I couldn't have imagined a warmer welcome.
I'm also very happy with the hostel (pool and view of Table Mountain). Tonight, there will be a barbecue and then I will get a good night's sleep.
See you soon!
