26.03. Glacier Explorer

Last night. Cloudy again. No stars. No romance.

Today there was a trip to Mt. Cook National Park, specifically to the 'Tasman Glacier'. The distance from Lake Tekapo to the National Park is about 100 km. The Tasman Glacier is the largest glacier in New Zealand, measuring 27 km in length and 3 km in width, but unfortunately it has been shrinking significantly in recent years. On the 'Glacier Explorer' boats, bundled up warmly, we were able to admire the edge of the glacier, some floating icebergs, and the surrounding mountain world from the glacier lake. The weather was mostly gray, just like the glacier. But we were lucky, it cleared up a bit and Mount Cook, the highest mountain in New Zealand, appeared. It's usually covered in clouds...
