After a peaceful day at the beach, we took the 'Sleeper Bus' towards Hampi. The Holi Festival was approaching and we wanted to celebrate it in a traditional way, far away from the mass tourism in Goa. I was told that although it is best in northern India, the remote village of Hampi is the ideal destination in the south.
Buses usually take 10 hours on bumpy roads. The roads are extremely rough, making it difficult to close your eyes for a nap. The bus had 30 stacked beds in a very tight space. Every bump catapulted us a few centimeters into the air and woke people up from their sleep. And if it wasn't the road preventing sleep, the unbearable honking melody of the bus certainly contributed. So, close your eyes and endure!
