Leisurely day without a fixed plan.

Today everyone, except for the Irish woman who had to go to the airport early in the morning, had the sleep syndrome! The cleaning lady made noise as quietly as possible at 9 o'clock. Smile.

Yesterday's planning of my car-free days until Sunday continued this morning. Since the websites of some tour operators are far from complete or even up to date, I decided to look locally in town today and ask again about the options.

On the way into town I walked through the much touted park to admire the animals. Um, yes.... we better leave this topic...

Much better, on the other hand, was the old market in the cross-shaped building. As so often, many shops have the same offer. But with different prices! So eyes on before one fills the bags with packed olives or herbs, olive oil, soaps, T-Shirt's, leather goods, wood articles, cotton clothes from Greece or other stuff. Since I will then still go with my car into the hinterland and there certainly on 'right' hand-made products, I have bought nothing. But the more amazed! In the market hall there are a handful of mini taverns that offer fresh meze (many, small plates with all sorts of things from the kitchen). Well, also rather unusual things like snails. But also the meat counter with the whole chickens or the selection of fresh fish let the Swiss be amazed. Always an experience, such a market!

At the KTEL only printed timetables lay around and the info desk was not occupied. So here no further news, which lines they drive EXACTLY. Hmmm. That hinders my planning a bit. How do I find out where I can go with these buses in the region of Chania?

In the same street I found 3 tour operators. None of them had a program with prices and details. And sorry, but I can't remember all the details by heart! In the 3rd, the nice lady then wrote me the excursions by hand on a mini note. Okay, that goes then probably already under job creation or so. Anyway. In any case, the yield was not really great.

In Greece, the stores in the streets are very often arranged by theme. There is a leather-street, a household-street, a wedding- and baby-street, a clothes-street, etc. This makes the search a bit easier.

Spontaneously I came across a tourist attraction right next to the big KTEL parking lot, i.e. in the transport street (?? with 2 fresh fish stores! Smile): a city tour in a red, sideways-less (not topless) bus. 1.5 hours for 15 Euro, incl. interesting facts in the desired native language. The ticket is valid for 24 hours; sit as long as you want or just do tomorrow again 'Stop and Go'. I was alone in the bus with 2 very young German girls. The ride also led out of the city and directly past the hostel. lolWe drove to the SOUDA Bay. There the big ferries to Piraeus depart. There is also a Greek naval station used by NATO and the US NAVY. The depth of the anchorages up to 150 m is sufficient for aircraft carriers and even submarines to anchor. An entertaining and exciting thing this tour. Exciting because the driver had to perform some real miracles (see picture). He had no hand width between the cars parked everywhere. A masterly performance! But, for this it got me. The 'sideways without windows' bus also has its pitfalls! The trees along the road actually fly around the tourists' heads. Even if the driver does very slowly; the branches have a real drive on it when they speed into the bus. And yes, a branch hit me really hard. I have no marks on my face, but the pain was there a little longer. OUCH!

Today I was a little earlier in the hostel. Time, once again, to sort the suitcases and clothes for tomorrow and especially for the day after tomorrow (Santorini) ready. So I can take at 5.30 immediately everything into the bathroom and disturb so if possible my room colleagues not too firmly.

After changing (today it was often overcast, but still warm) to my regular tavern. And again he asked me for a dessert. NO, still no Raki and no mini dessert in a glass. I bought myself Cretan specialties at a bakery, which I will enjoy in a moment.
For tomorrow I have no plan yet. I just don't feel like going to the beach with a full day trip. But I have all the time in the world to plan something or not to plan but just to do what I just feel like it.
