Unbelievable Bromo

Опубликовано: 01.06.2018

We continued our journey to Malang by train, from there we wanted to climb Mount Bromo. The evening before, we rented a scooter, filled it up with gas and bought some snacks. While shopping, we felt like a little child who is allowed to go shopping for a vacation, chocolate milk buns, cookies, juice, and water :) We read on the internet that it is about a 3-hour drive from Malang to Bromo and that it is supposed to get pretty cold. Of course, we thought, how can it get so cold in Indonesia? It must be really chilly. So, we set off at 2 a.m. with our scooter to arrive in time for sunrise. After just 5 minutes, we realized that it is not as warm as we thought and we put on our jackets. We drove for another 2 hours through the Indonesian countryside until we reached the entrance of Bromo National Park. From that point on, the temperatures dropped drastically. I think it was only 3 degrees Celsius. So, there we were, sitting on the scooter, shivering, with frozen fingers, I was on the verge of crying, Angi didn't say anything anymore, and the navigation system still showed 1 hour of driving time. And now we were driving on a sandy road. Have you ever driven a scooter on sand? We hadn't either. It was just as bad as you can imagine. Now we were the ones who were chilly. Teeth chattering, we finally arrived at the viewpoint after 3 hours of driving. The effort was definitely worth it, as you can see from the photos. There were still about 20 people with us at the top for the sunrise, all of whom had booked a tour together. When the sun rose, the people all disappeared and we were completely alone for 1 hour. We warmed up in the sun and had our breakfast for children :) From the top, you can observe how about 500 people are driven to Bromo and everyone climbs up. We waited for the hustle and bustle to subside, and when everyone was gone, we climbed up to Bromo. As expected, we were almost alone there too. The view is incredible. When we got back down, we wanted to buy bananas from a nice old man. At first, he was friendly, but then he started following us and wanted to kiss me and touch my ass. Bad grandpa. So, we ran away and zoomed back to Malang on the scooter as fast as we could on the sand. When we arrived at the checkpoint, someone stopped us again and we thought he wanted to see our ticket, but instead, he just wanted to take a photo :D Being nice as we are, we naturally took one. Bam, the next one who put his hand on my ass. That's enough now!! Lesson learned: blonde hair + leggings + Jessi's ass is not a suitable combination for Indonesia. When we were back in Malang, we were so exhausted that we couldn't do anything for the rest of the day and went to bed at 7 p.m. :)

A scooter tour is highly recommended. It costs about 1 million Rupiah less per person than a jeep tour, and you are alone and not with another 500 people.
