We found a cheap alternative to the 'locals' (difficult without Spanish) on the internet to get from Cusco to Machu Picchu. The pick-up in the morning worked perfectly, so we arrived at the final stop Hidroelectrica after about 6 hours bus ride. Now we had a 12km hike along the train tracks to Aquas Calientes. Already during the hike, we had a beautiful view of the two mountains next to Machu Picchu, the Machu Picchu Mountain and the Huayna Picchu, as well as some ruins.
Around 4:30 pm, we finally arrived in the small town of Aquas at the foot of Machu Picchu (only accessible by foot or overpriced train). We went to bed early in the evening.
