'I'm going on an adventure!', cried the Hobbit as he left the Shire euphorically. That's almost exactly how I escaped into my adventure yesterday afternoon. After 14 hours on the airplane, Costa Rica greeted me with a beautiful sunrise behind its benevolent mountains and shook me awake with a very rough landing after 2 hours of sleep.
To dive right into the food culture, I had to have the Ticos' (Costa Ricans) breakfast: Gallo Pinto. I was assured that this will be my breakfast for the next few weeks. If I had known that beforehand, I would have had McDonald's one more time.
With the spotted chicken (= Gallo Pinto) in my stomach, I continued by car and left the city of San Josè.
The plants slowly grew larger and more colorful, and eventually, I found myself in the jungle. Here and there, the friendly locals greeted me with waving machetes. Sadly, there are no pictures of this because Costa Rica's roads are like a single rumble strip.
Right now, it's time for lunch in the jungle, even though my biorhythm is telling me it wants to sleep. It will have to wait a little longer.
Stay tuned for more stories from the jungle!
