We set off in the morning for a five hour tour; our bus was already waiting for us.
First we drove to a Kona coffee farm, where we learned a lot about growing, harvesting and processing the coffee beans.
Afterwards we visited the "Saint Benedict's Painted Church". I found a breadfruit in the church garden. Unfortunately I wasn't able to take it with me to try it out.
For lunch there was something I didn't know before: "Poke", a kind of salad with raw marinated fish and a side dish. There were dozens of combinations to choose from. Yummy!
We visited a shop for coffee and other island specialties. A lava tunnel was accessible from the shop. which of course we crossed.
We continued to the Kaloko-Honokohau Natural Historical Park, where you can see the effects of a volcanic eruption in the form of a lava field.
We then visited a section of beach inhabited by a whole bunch of green turtles.
Addendum: I caught a pretty multi-colored gecko in the coffee factory shop, which had to serve as a photo model for a few minutes before I released it unharmed.
In the evening, the juggler and comedian Aaron Bonk showed us his art on the ship.
