As expected, we wake up early and start towards Krck.
The weather is not so nice, so it's a good day for driving. The navigation says about 250 KM and 5.5 hours on the country road.
The car navigation and Google are not completely in agreement on the direction, so it will be a combination of both. We drive on roads that in Germany would probably be designated as bike paths,
narrow roads through cornfields (there are really many of them here)
through an area that reminds more of the Black Forest without any tourism. We make a stop at a gas station in the middle of nowhere to check the tire pressure with a Slovenian instruction,
to refuel and have a coffee.
The locals sitting here for morning drinks laugh at our attempt to order the right coffee. We pay €2.70 for the 2 coffees and continue driving.
The drive through the mountains seems endless. We pass a small border crossing into Croatia, until after about 5.5 hours we finally reach the bridge to Krck.
The opposing traffic is a huge traffic jam, probably you have to pay the fee when leaving the island. After another hour on winding small roads,
we reach the campsite in Baska, which is the only destination we have booked.
After several attempts, with the help of the camping neighbors and the landing of Rudy on the uneven pitch, the parking maneuver succeeds.
Everything went well again. The place is ok, but the beach, which you can reach downhill via several steps, reminds more of Rimini. Turquoise blue water, a great beach but super crowded.
We barbecue, enjoy the starry sky including shooting stars, and also the loud air conditioning from the neighboring pitch. 🤦♀️
