Today, instead of going with a ranger to the national park, we set off in the early morning hours in our own vehicle towards the Phabeni Gate to do a so-called Self Drive Safari. Quick registration of the vehicle and our contact details at the gate, and off we went. Admission for both of us was 900R (slightly more than 50€). Upon arriving in the park, we quickly saw numerous animals again. One of our highlights today was definitely the sightings of hyenas and wild dogs taking a nap by the road. We also encountered a herd of lions and a leopard again today. The leopard was easier to spot than yesterday, as this time it was lying just a few meters from the roadside in the tall grass. In the afternoon, we also saw a few monkeys. After a breakfast and lunch break in the park, we started our return journey in the afternoon, after a good 7 hours. We stopped at an African mall to get our dinner.
