12.05.2023 The Stairs of the Turks

This morning the defective water heater in our apartment is supposed to be replaced. In disbelief, we leave the place of cold water and drive to Agrigento to a shopping mall. Among the dolled-up Italian women with Gucci handbags, plump lips, fake eyelashes, exquisite shoes, and gold chain phones, we both stand out in our black motorcycle armor like aliens - and that's how people look at us. Nevertheless, we enter a fashion store to give Marita a better look at several evening dresses. We settle for looking for today, stock up on groceries, and drive back to the vacation rental. In front of the house, the old water heater looks at us sadly from a corner - on the other hand, the new one brings us a shower with warm water. In the afternoon, we hike to the "Scala dei Turchi", a white sandstone rock formation, from where we have a magnificent view of the sea and can take beautiful photos.
