This post was still sleeping in the memos but now it's time: Our last week in Vanuatu was marked by numerous goodbyes in different forms:
Farewell dinner with our guesthouse owner Ian, volleyball officials Julie, Debbie and Charmaine, Josh and family, Anni's patient Vicky and Charlotte filled the evenings. Our last two dives, preparations for Australia, Anni's final treatments and Michel's final sessions filled the days. We not only completed the Open Water Diver (4 dives) but also enjoyed another dive as certified divers, where we observed reef sharks and beautiful corals again.
Vicky finally took us to the airport, where Josh, his little family and another player were waiting to say goodbye to us again. There were gifts in wild colors and we made muffins. The players had already surprised us the day before with cake and Christmas presents. We didn't expect such great attention and were very flattered. For Anni there was a dress from the men and a beer holder from the women. Michel unpacked a shirt and also a beer holder. The association of German and beer is really unstoppable anywhere in the world.
Very happy but also with mixed feelings, we made our way to Brisbane.
