30.04.2023 Child care project

This morning we got up early to catch the shuttlebus to the gap of dunloe. Sadly, like many times before, the bus was not very reliable and after 30min's we decided to get a taxi.

We drove to kate kearney's cottage which was kind of the start of the gap of dunloe. A long road that winds between two mountain sides.

It reminded me a lot of my previous walks through the swiss mountains back with school or the cevi.

There wasn't a real walkway so we had to make room for cars driving past us, every now and then.

We also passed by another few ruined buildings.

We walked for quite a while and passed by a very special car. Yesterday when we were walking back into killarney with the huge traffic jam, we kept walking past one car because they kept being stuck in traffic and we kept walking past them.

So they yelled 'Hello' whenever we walked by them again. Also probably a bit drunk.

And today, away from any traffic jam, these same guys were taking a break at the side of the road next to their car. We didn't even recognise them until the one guy yelled 'hello, hey! do you remember us from yesterday??!'. We said: 'oh yeah right haha...' And quickly kept walking.

I guess you always meet twice in life.

Sometimes sooner than you'd like.

The sun came out and we enjoyed the difference from the rainy yesterday. We eventually reached a little coffee shop and a sign next to it that said that they offered boat tours back to killarney.

And we actually just got there in time for the next trip back to killarney and directly to ross castle.

It was just a small motor boat for about 12people. The way back went through narrow water ways where at one point we even had to get out of the boat so he could carefuly manouver it on his own underneath a little stone bridge.

Then suddenly we went on to a large lake and the boat was really able to pick up speed. And we realized that we were driving through the sea's of the national park that we visited yesterday.

A really fun tour, getting to see the gap and the park from yesterday aswell and landing at the ross castle.

We checked out the castle for a bit but quickly went on our walk back to killarney.

We bought some lunch for the bus ride tomorrow and finished the evening with a pizza.

Back at the hostel we played some chess and then went to sleep. Today was surprisingly more tiring than yesterday, even though we walked less.

We get on the bus at 10:00 tomorrow, back to clonmel, so we still got a bit of the day left when we return.
