Namibia 2024: On horseback

Tonight was accompanied by the voices of animals.

Again and again the silence of the night was interrupted by the sounds of wild animals.

After sunrise, Kristina and I sat on our terrace with a cup of coffee and watched the giraffes having breakfast.

Susi and Carsten went into the bush with Moses (that's what we say here 😉) and had the tracks and his solution explained to them.

A misinterpretation like on the Spitzkoppe will not happen to us again now.

We now have so-called bush poop experts. 💪🏾

Carsten and Susi have encountered the giraffes that are now having breakfast at the lodge up close.

After the wonderful cozy and extensive breakfast

We're going on holiday for a bit before the girls put on their spurs and ride off into the sunset like Lucky Luke.

At 4:00 p.m. sharp the girls are ready in their safari riding outfits.

Off to the stable!

Carsten and I treat ourselves to a tapped Windhoek Lager 🍺 before we are picked up in the Land Rover Defender for a sundowner.

We all know that this will be our last African sunset on this holiday, which makes us feel a little sad.

The Defender Guide explains the flora and fauna to us boys and we pass wildebeest, oryx and cockatoo!

Seriously, we see a lot of animals again, but after everything we've already experienced and seen, it's like the 3rd repetition of Mr. Bean on the beach 😂

Just in time for sunset we meet our riding Amazons at the agreed meeting point.

What a beautiful sight, riding towards us with the setting sun at their backs.

The riding guide!!?? Tina led the group confidently and in a varied way through the bush.

On horseback, riders become part of the wild animals and experience the animal world even more closely.

What happened next was somewhat surprising and unexpected for us.

The horses were unbridled and ran freely into the bush.

Tina was sure that everyone would be back at the lodge by themselves at around 6 a.m. tomorrow for feeding.

You would have to be a horse on Kambaku.

Gin and tonic, chips and biltong were then served to reflect on the experience.

Then we went back to the lodge with the Land Rover Defender.

On the way there we are accompanied by a herd of giraffes 🦒.

Now I am writing for this blog for the last time:

Wash your hands, comb your hair and go to dinner.

Before that, we'll have a glass of wine at the campfire in the boma!

Then the waiter picks us up and tells us that dinner is ready.

Like yesterday, we sit at long, tastefully set tables.

Today our table is not so international.

We cover Stuttgart\Karlsruhe (Baden Württemberg), Nuremberg (Bavaria), Nordhausen (Thuringia) and Zurich (Canton ?).

Not to forget the exiled Lower Saxon, who also found his home in Baden Württemberg.

The food was again excellent and served lovingly!

To finish, we wanted to have an Amarula again, as is tradition.

Our riding guide Tina said we should try a springbok.

Why not, a round of Springbok for the whole table.

What she deliberately did not mention, however, was the ritual that goes with this drink😂

We all had to stand up, go to the front and put the glass in front of us.

Now it became embarrassing for us and funny for the table next to us.

We performed the Springbok dance and emptied the glass without using our hands 🙈

Afterwards we went to the fire pit of the boma and let the evening come to an end.

Good night Africa!!
