So, for me it is now January 3rd, 2024, so I arrived in Canada 2 days ago :) January 1st. was a pure flight and bus day in which we were super lucky that everything arrived on time, entry was super easy and, thank God, our suitcases all arrived intact.
The second day was still characterized by jet lag and waking up at 6 a.m. However, this gave me a lot of time to get to know the supermarkets here, as I went shopping twice that day :D American supermarkets are just really something different.. More frozen or pre-cut food, generally just much larger packages than in Germany and in addition they are Stores themselves cannot be compared with my little ALDI in Cologne. To my surprise, good old European Brussels sprouts actually existed in Canada. This was thought about extensively on New Year's Eve ;) Today has so far been filled with university work, as Ivey has decided that we shouldn't be bored before university starts :))) That's why I'm meeting the rest of my cohort this evening bowling for the coming semester.
Other than that, there wasn't much that was exciting. The apartment itself is an absolute dream: huge (150 m2 for two people), super clean and perfectly equipped (with a bathtub with Jacuzzi jets, for example). In addition, yesterday I met my roommate Kristyna, who is super nice and we seem to have similar ideas about living together :) My landlady is a bit very motherly and has extremely high standards for the cleanliness of the apartment, but that will definitely work out soon, so all in all: I had a great start to the new year, the jet lag is almost gone and I'm writing all this while I'm lying on the couch with Kristyna and our lunch is cooking in the oven!
