After arrival, straight to the dressing room... Well, freshened up, dressed up, and off to the concert evening in the new sports and cultural hall.
After a brief warm-up, a coordination with the women's choir and children's choir from Jelcz-Laskowice. We were allowed to accompany the chorus of the song "Hallelujah" and then sing the song of friendship together.
Then the time had come. We entered the hall. 1st tenor followed by 2nd tenor, then 1st bass and 2nd bass. The stage was tropical temperatures.
Speeches: Polish introduction, the deputy mayor of Jelcz-Laskowice and finally our mayor Frank Börner followed by the chairman of our men's choir, Roland Gogrefe. Now the big performance by "Ebbsche" Eberhard Kettlitz. He humorously announced all our songs.
The program: Hessenlied, Bierlied, Aus der Traube - Heimat Bier und Wein! Then the shanty round: Seemann, Hamborger Veermaster, and Heute an Bord. The last set is international: Chianti Lied, Ich war noch niemals in New York, Kriminal Tango, and Als Freunde kamen wir.
The women's choir with children's choir joins us after a soulful song, we sing Hallelujah and The Song of Friendship together.
Modestly, I had the impression that the audience was enthusiastic. Rhythmic applause, swaying along (Bierlied), and singing along at the end. A wonderful evening.
Invited to dinner at Hotel Antonio - certainly one of the best addresses in town - we had a nice evening with the representatives of the city of Jelcz-Laskowice. Of course, with typical Polish rituals and Polish specialties. I will report on this.
The nightcap was taken at the hotel on time, as planned, around midnight. We are supposed to have breakfast at 6.30 am...
