One day in Kuala Lumpur, one day hiking

Publicado: 24.11.2019

Saturday:

First of all, it was time to sleep in. Theoretically, anyway. Somehow, I'm not sleeping particularly well here, and thanks to the early wake-up calls, I've developed a routine. So not really sleeping in, but rather lazing around ^^ Around two o'clock, we headed back to KL. After seeing so much of the surrounding areas in the past weeks and months, it was finally KL's turn. Our destination was Merdeka Square and Masjid Jamek. As soon as we got off, it was clear that it wouldn't be a long sightseeing trip, as dark clouds were already visible. That's why we wanted to start at Merdeka Square and then seek refuge in the mosque if it rained. The square is quite beautiful, but unfortunately, we couldn't really look around because we heard the first thunder. So we took a few pictures and headed back. Unfortunately, the mosque also closed just as we arrived due to the beginning rain. So I'll have to visit both again, but it's already planned. Thanks to our weather-reading skills, we arrived almost dry at the LRT. We spent the weather in the mall at KL Sentral, and then we had a delicious meal at our Indian restaurant. So overall, it was still a great day, but if we plan something like this again, we'll meet earlier ;)

Sunday:

Today, I couldn't sleep in because I had a Skype appointment early in the morning. Thanks to the video call, I started the day great! At nine o'clock, we headed to Cyberjaya in a car borrowed from a colleague (No, I didn't drive, of course!) for breakfast. After a delicious waffle breakfast, we continued our journey to Broga Hill, where we wanted to go hiking. The parking lot wasn't particularly crowded, which we liked. So we walked along the path uphill. Somehow, everything looked a bit deserted, but eventually, we found a super nice lady who collected a Ringgit entrance fee from us, and then the ascent began. And what an ascent it was! The mountain is often climbed to watch the sunrise, but I wouldn't have wanted to climb it in the dark! The path was really steep in some places, and I was super glad for the ropes installed there; otherwise, I probably wouldn't have made it through some sections! Not the easiest activity in the heat, but the view definitely rewarded us! There are three different viewpoints, and at point one, we took a longer break before continuing to point two. An almost even more beautiful view! However, from there, we saw that it was already raining on the neighboring mountain. And since no one wanted to go down that steep sandy path in the rain, we skipped point three. After the descent, we treated ourselves to a fresh coconut from the super nice lady, and then we continued to Sak Dato Temple, a beautiful Chinese temple. After visiting it and daring to cross the suspension bridge, we had something to eat, and then it was time to go home. By the way, all of this without rain! Overall, it was also a beautiful day, but quite exhausting. I already have muscle soreness! I'm looking forward to the next, hopefully much more relaxed weekend!
