Finally we are able to write again... In the past few days we have been busy with work and visiting the market, and in the evening we were too tired to write.
On Sunday, April 30th, the famous 'Mindil Beach Market' in Darwin opened. This officially marks the start of the dry season. The market is open from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm and takes place in a park with a beach. From now until October, you can visit the market every Thursday and Sunday.
There were plenty of stands to buy food and souvenirs. Some of them offered gluten-free dishes, which were clearly labeled. Around 6:30 pm, there was a beautiful sunset to watch at the beach. At 7:00 pm, there was a fire show. And at 8:30 pm, there was a fireworks display to celebrate the opening of the market. Live music was played throughout the evening. Our personal highlight was an exhibitor with telescopes. We could observe the moon there. An unforgettable experience!
Apart from that, we also visited the Parap Market, which takes place every Saturday morning. There was only one stand with gluten-free food (bread and donuts), but unfortunately we had already bought and eaten fruit from another stand and were full. But we will definitely try the donut.
Tonight, we visited the market in Palmerston. There is also a lot of food there, but nothing that is labeled gluten-free. We bought freshly harvested mangoes from the Northern Territory there.
We quite like the markets. Finally, there is more going on in Darwin and the surrounding area. :) Since the markets take place every week, we will definitely go there more often.
