After our exciting time in the desert, we went to a small town in the interior of the country. Vallenar. What drew us there? Almost like family. Camilo's dad (Riccardo's best friend) is also from Chile, has been living there for several years, and since we were already visiting his home country, it was clear that a visit was a must. After a 10-hour bus ride, we arrived in Vallenar in the morning and were picked up in the coolest car I have ever seen!
We spent the days in a small house on Sergio's farm. He is currently planting herbs there and selling them to stores in the city. So we were in the middle of nature. There are also a few chickens running around on the farm, and of course, we both immediately fell in love with Sergio's dog Matti.
In Vallenar itself, we spent the days at Plaza de Armas and ate empanadas in the evenings, and went to the cinema. The movie was not easy to understand, partly because of the Spanish language and partly because the Chileans in the cinema were quite loud (once again very different from Germany).
On Saturdays, we took advantage of the weather and the opportunity and took a bus to Huasco. The town is about a 45-minute drive from Vallenar and has a huge beautiful sandy beach. It was a bit too cold for swimming, but accompanied by a little stray dog, we enjoyed sunbathing and relaxation there.
