Hello everyone,
today I get to tell you about my most beautiful trip!
On December 6th at half past 12 in the night, it started. Departure to Lapland! At half past 10, we reached our first stop: Ranua Zoo. In a beautiful winter landscape, we were able to see owls, polar bears, reindeer, wolves, and so on.
We continued to Rovaniemi to Santa Claus Village. Here we had the opportunity to meet Santa Claus in person and also visit his post office. We were also right on the Arctic Circle here. I must say, Santa Claus and his elves have a beautiful home here!
In the evening at 8 o'clock, we finally arrived at our destination: Saariselkä.
Here we all stayed together in cottages. Beautiful little wooden huts for 8 people. The village only has 300 inhabitants in total, but it is a very popular place for tourists!
From there we did many activities.
We were out cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. You could also go through the whole village with a sled or go sledding down a little mountain ;)
One of the highlights was definitely the husky tour! In total, there are 134 huskies living on this farm. Four of them were allowed to pull Erik and me through the forest! It was a lot of fun, but we had to help them uphill. So, once again, we had to be athletic.
The cozier part was with the reindeer! They also pulled us in a sleigh. Very beautiful and cute animals!
Of course, we cannot forget the sauna and ice swimming! And well, the Finns don't do it like we think, but: first you go into the icy water and only then into the sauna! Oh yes, it's cold!
Unfortunately, we had some bad luck with the Northern Lights. Most of the time it was cloudy and we couldn't see them. Only once could we see them briefly and very lightly.
Otherwise, we had daylight from around half past 10 to 2 p.m. ;)
All in all, it was a beautiful trip! We had an incredibly great time and the best part is: Erik was with us ;)
I wish you a lot of fun looking at the photos!
Best regards and see you soon!
