Today was again one of our travel days.
Waking up at 5:00, getting a Grab taxi (Grab is the Uber in Singapore - I guess some of you may be asking, what is Uber. No, it's not a typo, I didn't forget the quotation marks. With Uber or Grab, private individuals signed up and transported people from one place to another with their private cars, for a cheap price, just like a taxi. That's just a brief explanation). The ride-sharing service arrives on time and takes us to the airport for the specified price.
8:15 boarding the plane and 7 hours towards Cairns. This time with Silk Airline, also part of the Star Alliance, and with toilets where you enter backwards so that you can exit forwards.
I have a theory that something is added to the air in the airplane to make passengers sleep quickly and for a long time. Otherwise, I can't explain our comatose sleep. But it doesn't matter, we safely reach the 5th continent/the largest island in the world and ......... well-rested.
During the car ride to our apartment, I asked myself why there isn't a uniform driving direction in Europe. Because if that were the case, the Commonwealth countries, including Australia, would also drive on the correct side. We wouldn't have to constantly operate the windshield wipers when we want to use the turn signal - because the turn signal is on the other side as well - not just the driving direction. Luckily, we have an automatic car, so we don't have to change gears either.
I'm proud of my sweetheart, he has handled everything very well so far. Not only driving the car, but also handling the rest of the organization in the English language. (Hotel, airport, shopping.......)
After our first 1 1/2-hour shopping tour at Woolworths, the fridge is now full and our stomachs are full too, after the sushi and the bottle of beer.
P.S. tomorrow I will provide the data and facts about Queensland (because that's where we are now)
