Today we booked a tour with the agency 'Volcanoday' to the Cerro Negro volcano, the youngest active volcano here. (The last time it erupted was apparently in 1999)
Before we started, everyone was allowed to choose a top as a small memento, which I thought was really cool :) You can never have enough clothes and I don't have much anyway. Right, Mom ;D
After a 45-minute drive, we arrived there and my first thought was 'Oh, I'm supposed to ride down there, it looks steeper than I thought'
Put on my backpack, strapped the board on the back, and off we go. 'What am I doing here :)'. If you're lazy, you can have the board carried up for $4, but it's really not necessary. The day before, a girl said it was really difficult, but sorry, if I can do it, then others can definitely do it too :D The stupid wind made it really difficult at times, I didn't know how to hold the board in the most awkward way so it wouldn't blow me away :)
Once we reached the top, we had an amazing view and could take some photos and look around before plunging into the abyss muhahaha. Just kidding :D
Put on protective clothing, pull the bandana over your face (careful, not included), put the backpack underneath, and off we go in Minion style down the slope.
It was so much fun sliding down the volcano with the board, even though I fell down once :D The rocks are so small that they remind me of sand, and I fell so gracefully that I didn't hurt myself. Unfortunately, my board said goodbye to me, it apparently didn't fit between us ;) So I ran down the rest, which was also really fun.
Once we reached the bottom, we went back to the bus and as a reward, we went for a beer at a bar, hooray ☆
One of the guides mentioned that CNN has created a list of '50 things they should do before they die' and volcano boarding was in 2nd place. Ha, I can check that off right away :D
