Wellington. Windy Wellington.
After a hearty breakfast, we set off to explore Wellington today.
The weather report wasn't great, and surprisingly the weather wasn't either. It was cold and windy! It was almost stormy, but not as cold as we expected.
The 500 meters from the hotel to the museum were easy to walk along the pier, strangely enough, there was no wind in the museum 😀.
But instead: Magic show for children, interactive exhibitions for children and adults, information about New Zealand, earthquake statistics, Maori live performance (which we missed), sea information including the largest octopus ever found, and much, much more.
At some point, we had seen enough, and when we picked up our jackets, the staff member was delighted to hear a few German words because no one had spoken German to her for a long time.
Then we walked through the city center (windy) to the Cable Car Station.
The short ride up to the Kelburn neighborhood with its botanical garden and observatory is a must for everyone, the view over Wellington downtown and the harbor is excellent, but windy! During a brief rain shower, we treated ourselves to ice cream as a reward for the kilometers already walked.
Back down, we had dinner at the Asian restaurant, ramen and sushi, before heading back to the hotel, still windy.
