Today we went to the Burj Khalifa early (11:00 AM) by taxi, as our time slot was at 12:00.
It's a very strange feeling to look at the surroundings from so high up. You shouldn't think about a possible emergency and the associated evacuation up here 😂
Laura and I were very glad to feel solid ground again.
Here are some interesting facts about the Burj Khalifa:
- 60 seconds with the elevator to the 124th floor and normal stairs to the 125th floor
- 57 elevators + 8 escalators in the whole building
- 2,348 glass panels/windows
- 1 glass panel weighs 362 kg, the same as a piano
- 40 people clean all the windows for 3 months using traditional methods with a mop and bucket 🙈(it proved to be better than a robot)
- Construction time until completion - 6 years!!!
We walked through the Dubai Mall at the entrance with its luxurious shops. I think you can find every luxury brand here where you can spend a lot of money. In this section of the mall, we saw the most veiled people and men in traditional clothing - so money doesn't matter here.
Dinner tonight at the Beach House (Mediterranean cuisine) without Dominik - he's knocked out in the room and hopefully back to normal tomorrow.
