Geburtstag in Kyoto

خپور شوی: 25.04.2019

Today I am celebrating my birthday. First, it starts very quiet and late. So late that most breakfast options in cafes are no longer available (only until 11 a.m.).

On the way to the restaurant where I have planned dinner, we stumble into a restaurant where we find something to our taste. Numerous salary men have already gathered here to have lunch and enjoy good coffee and (how is that still possible!) smoke. Yes, smoking is still allowed in restaurants in Japan...

Afterwards, we visit Nijo Castle - if you are interested in Japanese history, it is worth a visit. The castle was built as the official residence for the first Tokugawa shogun and accordingly demonstrates the power of this clan and the shogun.

Unfortunately, photos are not allowed inside the palace, so here is the entrance gate

Then it was time for a massage. Truly one of the best massages I have ever had! Everything is a bit sore now, but the muscles are much more relaxed. My masseuse Mizuta afterwards said: 'very tight shoulders and neck! And scalp. And around eyes.' Yes, yes, I would also like to come back again to solve the problem. Oh, if only I could take Mizuta to Switzerland.

After returning to the accommodation and packing for the next day, we go to the Tempura restaurant for dinner. We order a set menu, each course is presented fantastically and tastes delicious. I just can't bring myself to eat the snail... Once again, we forgot to take photos because of our eagerness to eat, so here is only the Sashimi course.

Afterwards, there is still time for a birthday drink at the Gear Bar - a great little place that is hidden. Perfect ending for the 33rd birthday!
