19th February Auckland - Paihia

The drive to Paihia on SH1 is very exhausting, partly due to the heavy traffic and because the road is still closed in one section due to road damage, so we have to take a detour. However, the view from our B&B compensates for the strain.

Paihia is located in the Bay of Islands, a large bay with numerous sea arms and over 150 subtropical, uninhabited islands of various sizes. Blue water, white sandy beaches, and green forests remind one of the South Seas.
