By now we have recovered from our muscle soreness and blisters on our feet. We are very happy about that, because our room is on the 3rd floor with about 500 steps. So, after regenerating, we set off to explore the city. Two fools, one thought: walking is pretty stupid, so we rent a scooter. Said and done. It's all very easy, choose a scooter and pay. No need to show a driver's license, which is good for us because we're not allowed to ride scooters :D Well, nevermind. A brief introduction on how it works and off we go. No, not to a quiet side street to practice, but straight to the main road in the midday traffic. After the first wobbly minutes, it's no problem anymore. So, off we go towards the Grand Canyon of Chiang Mai. As if we had never done anything else, we arrive there safe and sound. Okay, it's not as cool as we imagined, so let's pack our things and go back to a market in the center of Chiang Mai. There was a flower festival parade with many impressively decorated floats. In the evening, we needed a beer to celebrate that we survived the first ride. We meet up with Charlotte from Minnesota, whom we met before the trekking tour. Very funny girl :) Today we set off super cool (notice our awesome helmets) to visit the highest temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Mountain road. No problem for us, after all we are professionals :) Don't panic, moms, everything is still intact :D The temple is really beautiful to look at, and the view is amazing. We had more fun riding down than visiting the temple, wheeeeee riding scooters is fun :D Unfortunately, we were stopped by the police, and since we're only allowed to ride mopeds, we had to pay a fine of 500 Baht (12.50 euros)ˆˆ but we were allowed to continue driving :-D the funny thing is, we were stopped again later and didn't have to pay anything because we already paid a fine before :-D crazy, crazy!! In the evening, we went to the Sunday Night Market, soooo many delicious things to eat, we can't decide so we try a bit of everything :) Among all the Chinese and Japanese (they are everywhere) we stroll through the market. The two of us among 15,000 :D
Now we have to pack our backpacks again, tomorrow we're off to Pai!
