On the first day we took a day trip to the Arve valley, more specifically to the town of Chamonix. The town has 8,644 inhabitants and is overlooked by the mountain range of the Western Alps, the Mont Blanc massif, in the border triangle between Switzerland, Italy and France.
A cable car leads from the Chamonix valley via an intermediate station at an altitude of 2,310 meters to the 3,777-meter-high mountain station of the Aiguille du Midi (3,842 meters).
A small, blue river, the Arve, also flows through the small town, giving the place a wonderful atmosphere. It rises in France and flows into Geneva, Switzerland, as a left tributary of the Rhône. This confluence of the two rivers creates a spectacular play of colors in Geneva (another post in the blog).
There are numerous restaurants and cafés on the Arve. A particularly worth seeing restaurant right on the Arve river is Rose Du Pont. With a beautiful view of the mountains and the Bosson Glacier and great decor, an unforgettable atmosphere is created. However, you should bring a little time with you as the service took a little longer. Despite the higher prices, it is definitely recommended and worth a visit.
