The journey, the room, and my unexpected visit

Good morning, fellow!
It's half past 8 and I'm checking in from the youth hostel in Heidelberg.
The Flixbus ride took 4 hours and 50 minutes, and to my surprise, the bus was really full. Luckily, I managed to get a window seat and I can't complain about my seat neighbor either. Thanks to my sleeping talent, I was able to fall asleep perfectly on the bus, making it a completely satisfying journey. After my Flixbus arrived in Heidelberg right on time, I walked to my bus stop where my bus to the youth hostel was supposed to depart 15 minutes later. Well, that wasn't the case :D Probably the bus simply disappeared off the face of the earth and couldn't show up at my stop. Oh well, not a big deal - I just called the youth hostel and announced that I would unfortunately arrive around half past 10 (assuming that my next bus doesn't also disappear somewhere). The lady on the other end of the line was absolutely friendly, so I could wait for the next bus completely at ease. It didn't let me down, but picked me up at my stop right on time. During the waiting time, I got my bus ticket and chatted with a group of exchange students who were amazed by the size of my backpack. When I arrived at the youth hostel, I paid for my room, got the key card, and then went into my room. There, I was nicely welcomed by two girls who showed me where there was still a free bed and told me that two other girls were already asleep and one more was coming. So, the 6-bed room was finally completely filled with me. I got ready for bed, set my alarm and fell asleep with great relief.
My alarm didn't even get a chance to fulfill its duty, as one of my roommates took care of that at 6 o'clock. But it wasn't a problem, because I just gradually woke up slowly and then jumped into the shower. Of course, you can't compare a youth hostel to a luxury hotel, especially when the shower is used by 6 girls. But if you've ever been to a summer camp, you're used to much 'worse' and can handle it. The breakfast at the youth hostel was included and also perfect. The plates and cutlery were clean, there was enough choice, at least for the 'normal eaters', but even as a vegan, I found enough options. But the highlight was not the food, but my surprising table neighbor. Unfortunately, it wasn't an attractive young man (don't worry, that's just a joke, Mom), but an equally attractive elephant. The youth hostel is located right next to the zoo, and if you have breakfast outside and are lucky, you can watch the elephants next door. That was really cool, especially since I hadn't expected an elephant as my neighbor at all.
Now I'll take care of my trip to Amsterdam and a hostel, and at 1 pm I'll meet up with my friend in the old town.
(The only drawback of a youth hostel is that you are surrounded in the lobby by small, loud, squeaky, puberty-ridden, more or less annoying brats, but they really make you smile with their world-ending dramatic problems)

See you soon, friend!
