Salinera de Maras

خپور شوی: 11.07.2019

And back in cold Cusco again. Cusco was and still is the Inca capital, so it has a bunch of ruins and monuments here too. We would have liked to see more, but first Jonas got the flu, and then I did too. Additionally, it's currently winter, which means it's very cold here and they don't really have heaters or insulation. That means it's always as cold in the room as it is outside, which is not fun when it's -3 degrees at night and you have a bad flu. That's why we didn't make it to Mount Vinicunca, dear Ninjo. You have to hike for two hours at 5,200 meters, and you should be in pretty good health for that.

We did manage to take a little trip and took the bus to Moray to visit the Salineras. The river comes from the mountainous area and brings salty water with it. This water is collected in pools and then waited for it to evaporate. What remains is salt enriched with minerals. The Incas already created the salt terraces. Today, each family from the village has their own pools and makes a living from them.

Nah, das freut mich das du meine Kommentare liest und nicht einfach ab zum nächsten Eintrag im Journal springst. Vielleicht klappt es ja im nächsten Leben.😄😎
