After a 24-hour bus ride, we arrived in Copacabana on Lake Titicaca. And that means: back to inhuman heights (3,800 meters). The sun is burning like crazy, it's still cold, lips are cracking, the skin feels like sandpaper, and climbing stairs almost requires an oxygen tent. Nevertheless, we can't complain because our bodies have adapted to this exceptional condition and we are not suffering from altitude sickness. The cold is taking a toll on us (especially me) after 6 weeks in the tropics. In addition, we had to learn that price should not be the only criterion when looking for a hostel. With temperatures of 10°C during the day, we have a room without heating and without a properly closing window! We still need to practice a little.
Copacabana is actually a very beautiful and clean village (which is rare in Bolivia). The main attraction here is the Isla de Sol on Lake Titicaca. After a 1.5-hour boat ride, you can visit the island. There are some Inca ruins to see, cute llamas, and breathtaking views of Lake Titicaca. However, we have to honestly say that the Andes no longer blow us away, they somehow look similar everywhere. But on our journey to Peru, we still have Arequipa and Cusco with Machu Picchu on the plan, which are also located in the Andes. But after that, we will definitely go to the seaside.
