Day 5: Straubing - Obernzell

This morning we set off very early (around 7:30 a.m.) without breakfast. There was no breakfast at the campsite and I hadn't bought any. After 12 km I stopped at a bakery and had some. Shortly before Passau I had the first breakdown of my tour: 2 screws on my luggage rack came loose (probably because of all the gravel roads), which caused it to tip backwards during the ride and the bike to fall off. Luckily nothing happened. I temporarily secured the whole thing with a cable tie. Then I rang the doorbell at a house on a whim and a very nice older man was able to help me with screws. Now everything is back in place and I can drive on to Passau. The city was completely overrun with cruise ship tourists. So I just took a few pictures and carried on straight away.

I found a great campsite right on the Danube. The first washing machine is currently running because I'm slowly but surely running out of underwear.

Tomorrow we're off to Austria!
