A new highlight: The Victoria Falls were on today's agenda. We got up early and set off at 8 AM towards Zimbabwe. Border crossing Botswana-Zimbabwe: Exit stamp, fill out immigration form, entry stamp; it sounds relatively simple, but it is quite a complex matter at African customs stations and takes time (and patience). For this reason, we decided in advance not to do the tour with our own car, but to book a guided tour with a guide.
In addition to the customs checks, health data was always collected regarding Mpox, meaning it was checked if one came from an Mpox country, which fortunately was not the case for us. Nevertheless, everyone had to walk through a bath of disinfectants.
After an hour's drive through Zimbabwe, we reached the Victoria Falls. After nearly 2 km of walking, we reached the Victoria Bridge, which also represents the border to Zambia. Then the first look at the waterfalls, which was initially sobering, as due to the months-long dry season, little water was plunging down. The further we walked along the Victoria Falls, the more impressive they became, and we were quite strongly impressed. How fantastic must it be after the rainy season when the Zambezi River pours down in endless masses of water.
Nonetheless, it was a unique experience.
After a lunch break, we then walked in the blazing midday heat past an endless line of waiting trucks across the border into Zambia, as we wanted to have a look at the Victoria Falls from the Victoria Bridge. 3 African countries in one day.
We then returned with the necessary border crossings to our hotel, where we could now actually move into the promised suites ;-)
