On the way to Lima

Opublikowany: 13.05.2018

In Lima at the end of April my flight to Colombia was waiting for me, but on the way to the capital of Peru I made two stops in Huacachina and Paracas.

I found an endless desert landscape in Huacachina, with a small oasis in the middle. Some hotels have settled around it. "Doing nothing" was on the agenda in this resort. Huacachina is the perfect place to relax and unwind as there is nothing else to do there except for a sandboarding tour or a buggy tour in the sand. In one of the most beautiful hostels with a pool and hammocks, I let my soul dangle for a few days and watched dreamy sand sunsets.

After a few days of relaxation, Paracas awaited me with a little more program. In the morning, I went on a boat tour to the Islas Ballestas. These islands are also called the Galapagos Islands for the poor, so it's the perfect destination for my backpacker budget.

The island world is worth seeing alone because of its rock formations. From the boat, we could observe numerous different birds and flying seagulls greeted us screeching. When we drove a little further, we discovered numerous little Humboldt penguins. And then we catch sight of the sea lions. I'm thrilled! The animals are lying on the rocks, enjoying the sun and having a good time. So cool!

In the afternoon, I joined a tour to the Paracas National Park. The landscape, the rock formations, and the different colors were so beautiful that pictures speak more than a thousand words:

Sitting directly by the sea with the occasional splash of saltwater on my face, I had the typical Peruvian fish dish, ceviche, served to me in a restaurant.

I spent two days sightseeing in Peru's capital and also met an "old" travel acquaintance from Arequipa there. It's just nice how backpackers keep running into each other. I really like Lima, especially the historic old town and the district of Miraflores, where my hostel is located. I explore the city center on a free walking tour. In the afternoon, I visit a chocolate museum and even get to make my own chocolate. Delicious!

I particularly like the Miraflores district with all its bars, restaurants, and the beach. During a walk along the promenade, I enjoy the view over the sea.

In the evening of the second day, I head to the airport. Colombia's capital, Bogotá, is waiting for me. I can't wait to visit the popular country among all backpackers.
