08/21 Drive to Los Angeles

Opublikowany: 24.08.2023

All right! Instead of Joshua Tree National Park, today is the approximately five-hour drive to Los Angeles. We spontaneously booked tickets for the tour at Warner Bros. Studios for tomorrow.

We hardly noticed anything from the hurricane at night either, a little rain, a little wind, but nothing alarming.

Quick shopping at Walmart, with a short detour to the weapons department, but can't find anything useful.

The journey again goes through "infinite expanses" and over dead straight roads, but unfortunately not through such a great landscape as something further north. We look for a campsite in Angeles Forest, north of the city, and we get a parking space at the second one we find. The lady at check-in is Belarusian and obviously happy to chat with someone from Europe. The campsite is looking a bit battered from the heavy rains, but we suspect it wasn't much nicer before that either. We also wonder about the many permanent campers in this rather desolate area, presumably people who live in their mobile homes or trailers. It is said that more than 11,000 people in the Los Angeles area have to live in RV's.

At dinner, the train drives us through the living room. Unfortunately, we notice a bit late that the campsite is right next to the metro line towards LA. The train drives through the hills with loud horns, unfortunately also at night, which makes sleeping a rather impossible affair.

Nevertheless, we are glad to have found a place to stay.
