Just looked out the window: doesn't look so bad! Strong rain has been forecasted for today and tomorrow as the outskirts of a typhoon are expected to hit Suzhou. But after a short drizzle, that was it, at least for now... However, the rain also has an advantage: it washes the smog out of the air. As a result, we were able to see the mountains around Suzhou for the first time, as the air was as clean as in Wadern or Bissingen.

Today we plan to walk around the Jinji Lake once, where we live. The weather is not an obstacle anymore. So let's have a quick breakfast, get dressed, pack something to drink, and let's go!

From our apartment, we first headed towards the marina. From there, you have a great view of the Suzhou Center, the new landmark of Suzhou. It actually looks like a pair of pants:

Then we went around a small bay, from the other side of which you can see our residential area and the yacht club:

After a few kilometers through pretty deserted luxury residential areas and rather quiet residential complexes, it was time for a short break. And behold, we were not alone:

I probably inadvertently brought this little companion here (hehe grandma will be happy about "cute" caterpillar pictures) from one shore of the lake across a bridge to the other end. Whether he wanted to go there? We will never know. For now, he is sitting in the bushes.
Let's continue to the south shore of the lake to the "Ligong" bridge:

From there, we actually "only" have to walk up the west side of the lake to the Suzhou Center, then to the north over the bridge, and we're back home. That's the plan. But first, we had to admire the construction site for the new subway line, which will be built straight through the lake:

And as you can see, dark clouds are slowly but surely approaching. Simon is convinced that we will make it home, I no longer believe it, as there is now also a strong wind. We agree to go to the Suzhou Center first, there is the next subway station, and then see.
In the end, the typhoon won... but luckily we made it to the Suzhou Center relatively dry. It quickly becomes clear here: others have already had the same idea, National Holiday greets us.

After an 18km walk on asphalt, hunger slowly set in. So off we go to our favorite noodle shop! And it almost seems like Suzhou wants to reward us for the long walk with this sunset here:

And then Pickeldi and Frederik went home :-)
