Tour dates: Route 101.6 km, max. 41.6 km/h. Today's average was only 18.8 km/h, and the ride duration was 5 hours and 23 minutes.
Weather: My first look out the window was promising, but I knew it would be completely different. When I was cycling in Germany, I usually had headwinds when riding east, but now I am mostly riding westward. The wind noticed this and changed to a westerly direction as well. I also encountered a few raindrops along the way.
Since I didn't book breakfast at the hotel today, I was able to start before 8 am. I hoped to have better weather and less wind for some time.
I had to ride for over 10 kilometers until the city was behind me. Then the bike path mostly ran parallel to the road, although sometimes on the right side and then on the left. You have to concentrate very hard to always find the right way.
Suddenly, the bike path ended far out and I had to continue riding on the shoulder. In total, there were 3 opportunities later to take a different route. Although they were longer in terms of distance, they were much quieter and more varied.
Along the road, there were many signs indicating elk, but I didn't see any. Yesterday, however, a hare hopped in front of me in Helsinki. Besides dogs and various birds, I didn't see any other animals. There are goose species here that I didn't know about.
Without really intending to, I managed to reach the 100 km mark again today. In fact, there was not a single hotel on my route. Along the way, I consulted Booking once and was reassured to find that there were available rooms in Ekenäs. Nevertheless, I didn't book, which paid off again today. The room cost me €15 less than the already discounted price on Booking.
