Enjoy your trip

Opublikowany: 04.07.2022

Today, once again, a difficult farewell was due. But change is the constant in my journey. And so, it is the nature of things to say goodbye to beautiful places. And eventually, I had to return to the mainland. So, I packed everything up neatly, took one last shower, and off I went.

A detour took me to Kaali, the location of one of Europe's largest meteorite craters. In the midst of a shady little forest, there rises a ring wall about 16 meters high, with a diameter of about 110 meters. In the crater lies a lake adorned with some pretty water lilies.

Afterwards, my navigation system leads me back to the main road towards Kuivastu in adventurous ways, where I take the ferry to the mainland. I'm lucky, the ferry is ready to depart and the loading has already begun. Buying a ticket is easy, and 7 minutes after arrival, I'm already at sea.

Now, I'm heading south quickly. I have chosen two places in Latvia that I want to visit depending on how I feel that day. So, I drive calmly when... of course, the tire pressure warning light comes on. Oh no, not again! But there's no way around it: pull over at the next opportunity and check the pressure. Everything is okay. So, was it a false alarm? Oops, no, when I look back, I discover a pipe hanging down underneath the car. That could be trouble. A quick internet search reveals that fortunately, there is a Škoda dealership in Pärnu, six kilometers further ahead, called Autohaus Möller. So, I roll there cautiously.

I am greeted warmly, can hand over the keys, and enjoy a cappuccino in the luxurious seating area. Usually, the customers who buy expensive cars sit here, not foreigners who can only speak a little Estonian. Luckily, I showered and changed clothes in the morning. After about thirty minutes, the customer service employee returns. Apparently, in the constant shaking of the Baltic, a clip has come loose that was supposed to hold the pipe in place. So, it's not a big deal. He doesn't want any money, so I leave a nice tip and set off towards Latvia, accompanied by good wishes. 'Enjoy your trip!'

At around 5:30 pm, I reach the chosen place, the 'Jūrasdzeņi' campsite. Once again, this is a real contrast to this morning. The reception is very friendly. But the campers are parked close together. The location is great, we are right behind the beach. The sanitary facilities are spotlessly clean, although I don't know yet if there are enough. I treated myself to the slightly more expensive camper zone, as most people use their own toilets. So, let's wait and see...

Now, I'm making everything weatherproof. Something is coming from the south, but I'm well prepared. But one thing is certain, tomorrow I will continue my journey.
