After a great breakfast - without rice today - we headed towards Kyoto. On the way to the Shinkansen, we bumped into some Scottish rugby fans on the train. The Japanese seemed to be very fascinated by the men in kilts, if I interpreted the giggling correctly. We boarded the Hikari Shinkansen around noon. It is the second fastest Shinkansen here and travels at speeds between 285 and 300 km/h. Inside, it feels like being on an airplane and there is plenty of space!!! No comparison to the ICE! In Kyoto, we ended up in the currently smallest hotel room. Bed, table, and a narrow corridor, but quite cozy. Today, we haven't seen much of Kyoto yet, except for the supermarket and the taxis, which I will take a closer look at tomorrow. I spotted some taxis with a heart on the roof, then suddenly some with a clover and later some with a moon... I will find out what that means! But Google has already told me that there are many temples in the area. I'm excited. Other than that, we are a bit exhausted from the past two days and are watching rugby on Japanese TV.
