A little shopping tour concluded our trip today, on our second to last day in New York. We started from our hotel and walked up Broadway, passing shops on the famous 5th Ave. until we reached Central Park.
One of my favorite shops is the MoMA Design Store (Museum of Modern Art). Here you can always find new designs, whether it's for the household, games, or even for our beloved pets.
The Central Park is the lungs of New York - biking, jogging, walking the dog, or simply lying on the grass or sitting on a bench enjoying the sun, playing tennis, or visiting the zoo... the park has a lot to offer!
The park was designed in 1858 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. They wanted to give the rapidly growing metropolis a peaceful oasis.
There are also often art installations or even entire exhibitions here, like this one by Christo and Jeanne-Claude The Gates (2005) to admire.
Of course, it's also a dream setting for couples who want to get married under the open sky, like this couple today celebrating with a picnic in the green!
A thunderstorm is approaching and just in time, before the rain, we reach Lucas' favorite museum, the American Museum of Natural History!
A MUST, absolutely worth seeing (over and over again!) with amazing lifelike exhibits, like this one here. Absolutely fantastic!
If you've seen the movie 'Night at the Museum' (2006) starring Ben Stiller, you'll surely remember various funny scenes. The film was actually shot here at the American Museum of Natural History, especially for the exterior shots.
The entrance hall was also filmed here, and you definitely remember the scene with the dinosaur!
What awaits us tomorrow - on our unfortunately last day - in the Big Apple? I will report!
