Today we said goodbye in the morning to our Two Jack Campground headed north. Our destination: Sunshine Village - Sunshine Meadows☀️. A recommendation from a great Canada Facebook group 😉. And what can we say: it was incredibly beautiful 🥰 hardly anyone around and breathtaking scenery! A real insider tip! You get up the mountain with the - for us - longest gondola we have ever been on 😅. It felt like it took forever.
The name delivers what it promises: sun ☀️, flowers 🌸, trees 🌳 and our little friends Columbia Ground squirrels 🐿️.
Right upon arrival we were asked if we had bear spray with us, two days ago the park rangers spotted a black bear. But we are well equipped. The bear bell attached, then we were off.
We covered just under 12 km of hiking trail. No bear encounters occurred. However, we still saw a few creatures: numerous squirrels, a marmot, and a shy elk (unfortunately without a photo).
In the afternoon we continued to our 2nd camp: Johnston Canyon Campground and made our way to the canyon of the same name. There we covered another approximately 5 km and were rewarded with beautiful waterfalls. However, the canyon is a huge tourist magnet 😂. Thanks also for this tip from the Canada group to arrive here in the afternoon.
P.s. Since the internet is sometimes mediocre here, I am trying to upload the pictures gradually.
