Playa Maderas - our Nicaragua base.
We noticed that we've become a bit tired of traveling and don't really need changing accommodations and places at the moment. Plus, we really like the hostel and the beach with its waves at Playa Maderas. Therefore, we decide to spend the upcoming week there again.
Playa Maderas is located about 10 km away from San Juan del Sur, a lively, very touristy place, and can only be reached by a gravel road with a shuttle that runs four times a day. We like this place a bit off the beaten path, just like the hostel where we can cook for ourselves and be surrounded by relaxed, nice people.
Our daily routine depends entirely on the tide. Usually, we go surfing once or twice, sometimes to yoga (Kathrin), and every few days, we take the shuttle back to San Juan to stock up on groceries.
At night, we are often woken up by the screams of the monkeys, which sound like they are from gorillas. In fact, they are much smaller specimens that roar here - see pictures.
Next on our itinerary is our last kite spot - Little Corn Island. We will spend 9 days there and then come back to Playa Maderas until the end of the trip.
